The antique oak dresser in the guest bedroom loomed large, a dark monolith against the pale yellow walls. Sarah ran a finger along its polished surface, a nervous tick she’d developed over the past few weeks. Liam was supposed to be back from his business trip by now. Where was he? She shouldn’t be checking his things, she knew that, but the uncertainty was like a splinter under her skin. She pulled open the bottom drawer, her pulse quickening.

Inside, nestled amongst neatly folded sweaters, was a small, leather-bound notebook. Her stomach lurched. She picked it up, her hands clammy. This was ridiculous. She didn't want to do this. But the little book practically vibrated with a hidden tension.

She flipped it open. The first page was headed, "Bucket List." Her breath hitched. The words blurred slightly as she scanned the first item: "Learn to play the guitar." Liam had never mentioned wanting to learn the guitar. She swallowed hard, turning the page.
